We are looking for a resilient and friendly Senior Support Worker to join a team that works in partnership with people who use our services, to enable them to live as independently as possible and to be part of their local community. Staff are required to work shifts on a rota basis, including evenings, weekends and may also be required to complete sleep-in duties.

We are seeking a creative, dynamic, forward thinking Senior Support Worker. You will assist the Service Manager in leading and developing a team to work in an autism specialist way, which is responsive to the needs of the people we support. You should have experience of contractual compliance, financial management/budgeting and leadership qualities.

This position is for a registered service in Seaforth, Liverpool. This a service with two people supported. The people supported enjoy accessing their local community, therefore a full driving licence is desired. We are seeking a Senior Support Worker who will lead a team effectively and support the team to provide autism specialist support that contributes to the people we support achieving quality of life. 

You will have a can do approach and be committed to supporting people in a positive, creative way that enables people to live a fulfilled life. You will demonstrate best practice and be a role model for the team. You will receive ongoing support to ensure your continued professional development and enthusiasm for the role.

An NVQ or Diploma Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care is desirable, but a genuine passion for providing person centred support is key to being successful in the role of a Senior Support Worker. In return, Autism Initiatives will provide you with a full induction and ongoing learning to support you to obtain qualifications pertinent to the role. This is a truly rewarding role, with the opportunity to develop your skills, knowledge and your career.

You will be expected to:

  • Support individuals with personal care and complete household tasks such as cleaning and laundry
  • Access the community in all weathers including swimming, medical appointments, walking, holidays, shopping, meals out
  • Administer medication
  • Handle finances
  • Complete paperwork such as daily reports, monthly consultations, and working file documents
  • Take part in all compliance checks such as fire safety and health and safety
  • Support people to maintain family contact including home visits
  • Contribute to professional meetings such as with social workers
  • Maintain health and wellbeing by working with medical professionals to follow a health action plan
  • Have basic IT skills (typing, using word)
  • Be flexible with working pattern as rota will include earlies, lates, weekends, long days, bank holidays & Christmas, sleeps and potentially waking nights in the event of staff shortages
